Discuss Marketing and Distribution of Thor 2 and outline anything interesting that you’ve found out

Thor 2 is a big budget film worth around $109,400,00 in box office. As it was created with a lot of money it is expected to be a great film and will catch attention. The producers are well known for creating other marvel films such as Iron Man, The Avengers and Captain America. The film is mainly targeted at teenagers and up and also people who are interested in superhero’s, villains and comic books. I have seen many adverts of the film on buses and TV adverts. To attract more people towards the film Thor 2 has produced merchandise such as T-shirts, lunch boxes and action figures.

Trailers used on YouTube for the public to watch so it persuades them to watch it advertised the film. Interviews were also used to market the film so the actors gave hints of what was going to happen. There are also mobile phone games that promoted Thor 2 as well and Disney promotions. The Disney promotions are going to be taken place in Disney World.

Disney and Motion Pictures distributed Thor 2 and the world premiere took place in London. The film can be seen in IMAX at cinemas such as Cineworld. When it becomes released on DVD it may be possible to watch in Blu-Ray. 

 I found out that when the film was released it had very good positive feedback from people on sites such as Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, the reviews were over 3 stars. But there was some negative feedback on the film such as from Peter Bradshaw he found the film quite boring ‘’This new Thor film delivers a hammer-blow of boredom to the back of the head’’ Also he thinks it was not made that well because it uses Computer Generated Imagery. I will be following the reviews of this film because with sequels of films the ratings can drop significantly and it will not be as popular.

I would not be in such as rush to see the film myself, I would most likely wait until it shows normally on TV, this is because I m not really interested in Thor but I am interested in other Marvel comic stories such as the Avengers where all the superheroes are combined together.
